Sales Book lists cash / credit sales at one place. To display Book give Menu Command Sales Book . Sales Book will be displayed. By default the Sales Book is displayed for last one month. This period is displayed in the frame marked period. The Sales Book consist of customer name, invoice no., invoice date, total amount, VAT Rs., CST Rs., amount paid, balance amount, due date, debit note, credit note, recovery, net to pay and status of invoice.

If you want to see only the sales out of state then check the check box Sales Out of State , if you want to see sales in state then click the check box Sales in State , to see combine report check both the check boxes as in default case.

Press the appropriate option button if you want to list sales entries selected as per the criterion listed in patterns for listing. If you want to see all sales entries press the option button List All

Any period can be selected for displaying sales book entries of that period. To select period press option button Invoice Date . Enter the two dates in the text boxes which will be displayed, for help refer Period Selection. All sales entries for that period will be displayed in the list.

To see Sales entries pertaining to one particular customer press option button Customer Name . Enter the name of the customer in the text box which will be displayed. To find the customer from the list press Find command button. List of customers will be displayed. Bring focus to the desired customer name or click the name and then press OK on the customer list. Customer name will appear in the frame marked Give Customer Name. Press OK here once again. Now only the sales entries belonging to that customer in the selected period will be displayed.

To see Sales entries which are paid up (those entries which are either cash transactions or the full recovery has been made and Net to Pay is zero ) press option button Paid Up .

To see Sales entries which are not fully paid up (those entries which are either credit transactions and the full recovery has not been made and Net to Pay is greater than zero ) press option button Credit .

To see Sales entries which are due for payment (Due Date is less than the current system date) press option button Due For Payment .

If you want to print or edit any sales invoice then first bring that particular invoice to focus in the grid by using tab and arrow keys or click it with the mouse in the grid. Once the invoice is in focus then press command button Edit . That sales invoice will be opened for edit. Edit / Print the sales invoice like you edit any other sales invoice. When you close the Edit window you will return to Sales Book. Any changes which you made in the sales invoice will not be reflected in the sales book until you prepare the sales book again by pressing the appropriate option button.

All sales invoices when they are created are posted in the ledger automatically if the Post Ledger Automatically check box is checked in the invoicing preference setup. If any sales invoice is not posted in the ledger (status : Open) it can be posted by pressing the command button Update .

Note for International VAT USers and GST Users in India
HiTech Accounting and Billing Software for various business segment accounting and inventory control software are VAT Enabled and  India GST (CGST / SGST) Enabled. There are two distinct versions of the software, VAT Version or GST Version, that you have to select at the time of the download of the software. 
VAT (Value Added Tax) is effective in more than 125 countries now other than India. VAT was made effective in India in 2008 complying with International Accounting Conventions adapted by 140 or more countries regarding taxation for trade and services.
GST has been Effetive in India in place of VAT. As we have to comply with VAT for sale of software in other 125 or more countries, we have now released newer seperate latest version of our software when extensive Field trials of GST in Accounting, CA feedback compiled on real tax returns is completed. GST features comprising of CGST/SGST, Input Tax Credit and HSN codes for Products are included in the basic framework for the Indian GST version of the off-the-shelf accounting software. VAT version will continue to use VAT Input, VAT Output and VAT codes for Products as per the international norms.

Many business use services of Tax Consultants and Chartered Accountants for filing the Tax Return and the tax return of the software is not used. To assist such activity you can export all reports from the software to MS Excel or MS Word and submit it to your tax adviser for finacial figures for the business . The software will perform all Inventory Control, Vouchers, Nominal Ledger Accounts along with Working/Trading and Profit & Loss account that will give you all figures ready for export for filing Tax Return.   • Under GST, the majority of dealers will need to adopt two-, four-, or eight-digit HSN codes for their commodities, depending on their turnover the year prior.
  • Dealers with turnover of less than Rupees 1.5 crores WILL NOT BE required to adopt HSN codes for their commodities.
  • Dealers with turnover between Rupees 1.5 crores and Rupees 5 crores shall be required to use two (2) digit HSN codes for their commodities.
  • Dealers with turnover equal to Rupees 5 crores and above shall be required to use four (4) digit HSN codes for their commodities.
  • In the case of imports/exports, HSN codes of eight (8) digits shall be compulsory, as GST has to be compatible with international standards and practices.
